Booker T Believes Additional House Show Matches Could Have Enhanced Becky Lynch vs. Sol Ruca Clash in Italy
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T discussed the recent match between Becky Lynch and Sol Ruca at WWE Clash in Italy, suggesting that prior house show experience could have led to a smoother in-ring performance.
Speaking on his "Hall of Fame" show, Booker T pointed out that WWE's current reduced house show schedule often leaves younger talent to gain crucial experience on television rather than in less high-pressure, non-televised events.
Booker T observed that the match between Lynch and Ruca was not as smooth as some might have expected, a point he believes Sol Ruca will improve upon with experience. He elaborated on Ruca's need to develop her ability to improvise during matches.
That's something that Sol Ruca is going to have to really think about going forward, is being able to improvise. I wish I would have got a chance to work with Sol Ruca on those improvisations and being able to know how to go out, and, you know, do certain things to make everything come together in a match. She's so talented. And the thing is, her having that meteoric rise in NXT because, there again, you know, when you're good at running the play, man, you can really really look good. But when that play get messed up and you got to call an audible, that's when you got to still make it look like it was supposed to look that way.
He acknowledged that Ruca is bound to make mistakes due to her inexperience at the top level of competition. However, he maintained that these errors serve as valuable learning opportunities for the emerging star. Booker T then posed a hypothetical question regarding the potential impact of more extensive house show practice on a talent's readiness for high-profile television matches.
How much Sol Ruca would have been prepared for that if she would've got a chance to do a house show loop, or a couple of house show loops, with Becky Lynch before they actually had that match? Someone like Steamboat-Savage had a chance to before they went into WrestleMania. How much better do you think that match would have been? It would have been so much better.
Ruca's Talent and NXT Trajectory
Despite his critique of the match's execution, Booker T was quick to laud the inherent talent that Sol Ruca possesses. He stated that Ruca has a high level of ability and placed her in the same category as other notable recent stars who have progressed from NXT, specifically mentioning Tiffany Stratton.
Booker T's comments highlight the challenges for new talent navigating the modern WWE system. He suggested that a more robust house show schedule could be instrumental in the development of performers like Sol Ruca, enabling them to better adapt to the unique demands of high profile television appearances.
