Chad Gable Details Rotator Cuff Tear That Required Surgery
Chad Gable, recently returned to WWE SmackDown and revealed as El Grande Americano Original, has shared details of his recovery from a serious injury, including the surprising discovery of a torn left rotator cuff that required surgery.
Chad Gable is back in the full swing of things at WWE, making his return to SmackDown this past Friday. His return saw him revealed as El Grande Americano Original, following a mask versus mask loss to El Grande Americano at AAA Noches de la Grandes. However, it was not too long ago that Gable was sidelined, attempting to recover from what turned out to be a serious injury. This past Friday, Gable posted a video on his YouTube channel discussing the injury and his subsequent recovery process. This video is presented as the first in what could be several episodes documenting Gable's last year.
Gable began the video by putting his injury into perspective compared to other more serious issues. He then detailed how he first sustained the injury, which occurred during a match with GUNTHER at a WWE live event. Gable soon learned he had suffered a slight tear in his right bicep. At that point, the injury was not deemed serious enough to require surgery or to keep him out of active competition. As such, he continued his in ring work despite the initial diagnosis.
However, more warning signs progressively emerged, indicating that his condition was more severe than initially thought. Chas Betts, known to WWE fans as Chad Gable, explained the increasing trouble he experienced with his right arm, which prompted him to seek further medical evaluation.
Progressively, the right side specifically of my arm was giving me more and more trouble, and sometimes I couldn't extend my elbow all the way. Sometimes it hurt too. Sometimes I started having pain down here in the lower part of the bicep. And so eventually, I decided, you know, I better get this checked out, at least just for my sanity, so I know everything's okay. I got MRI's on my shoulder, my tricep, my bicep tendons involved in that too, to get a look at what's going on.
Major Injury Revealed
Gable underwent MRIs on his shoulder, tricep, and bicep tendons. Scans were performed on both of his arms to get a comprehensive look at what was happening. It was during these MRIs that a major and unexpected finding was revealed. While Gable had been primarily worried about his right side, and that arm was not as bad as he had initially feared, the MRI results presented a significant shock. The rotator cuff on Gable's left shoulder was torn, which ultimately required surgery and kept him out of action.
Revealing this surprising diagnosis, Chas Betts stated:
So it turns out all this time, I was so worried about my right side, and the left side was the one that had, you know, all these issues, to my surprise.
Chas Betts, known outside the ring as Chad Gable, recounted these events in his YouTube video, providing fans with a clear understanding of the challenges he faced during his recovery period and the unexpected nature of his serious injury.
