Across its 16 previous iterations, no Money in the Bank event has occurred later than July 18, a date seen in both the 2010 and 2021 editions. The 2026 event's placement on October 10 could position it as the final premium live event preceding November's Survivor Series.

New Orleans was secured as the host city for the 2026 Money in the Bank event as a compensatory measure. This decision followed WWE's mid-2025 announcement that WrestleMania 42 would be held in Las Vegas for a second consecutive year, deviating from the original plan to stage it in New Orleans.

Event Date Revisions and Official Confirmation

The date for the 2026 Money in the Bank event has undergone multiple changes. Initially, the event was scheduled for Saturday, August 29. Subsequently, information released for presale registration indicated a shift to Sunday, September 6. The most recent official announcement, made on June 8, 2026, solidifies the event's placement on Saturday, October 10.

WWE, in collaboration with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and Legends Global, officially confirmed the new date for the event. The organization also provided details regarding the fundamental concept of Money in the Bank.

New Orleans to host Money in the Bank on Saturday, October 10 June 8, 2026. WWE, in conjunction with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and Legends Global, today announced that Money in the Bank will now take place Saturday, October 10, one month later than originally announced, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

The official statement further elaborated on the core premise of the Money in the Bank event, noting that it features WWE’s top Superstars competing in ladder matches to win a briefcase. This briefcase contains a contract for a championship match that the holder can redeem at a time and place of their choosing within the following year.

History of Money in the Bank Scheduling

In mid-2025, it was revealed that WWE would host WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas for a second consecutive year, a departure from the initial plan to hold it in New Orleans. As a result, New Orleans was designated as the host city for the 2026 Money in the Bank show. At the time of that initial announcement, the annual ladder match event was set for Saturday, August 29.

When presale registration information was distributed to prospective ticket buyers, the date for Money in the Bank 2026 had moved out by one week to Sunday, September 6. The latest official announcement, made on June 8, confirmed the presale and general on-sale dates for tickets, revealing that one of modern WWE's signature premium live events would not occur until October. Of the 16 previous Money in the Bank events, none had fallen later on the calendar than July 18, which occurred in both 2010 and 2021. Therefore, the 2026 event was always destined to take place further into the year than any prior Money in the Bank PLE. Its move to October places it in the fall, potentially making it the last major event preceding Survivor Series in November.

A visual illustration of the event's signature match type comes from a photo taken on July 6, 2024, in Toronto, Ontario, at the Scotiabank Arena, which showed Naomi ascending the ladders during a previous Money in the Bank event.
