In June 2025, WWE informed veteran superstar R-Truth that the company would be allowing his contract to expire. This news sparked immediate internet backlash from fans, which R-Truth recently described as the most moving experience of his life during an appearance on the “Six Feet Under with Undertaker” podcast.

Despite the initial news, R-Truth eventually made his return to WWE at Money in the Bank, where he notably attacked the heel John Cena. The following week on “WWE Raw,” Truth underwent a significant change, shedding his signature dreadlocks and proclaiming that he was now in control of his own run in WWE.

During his conversation with Mark “The Undertaker” Calaway, Truth delved into his emotions surrounding his contract situation and the subsequent outpouring of support from the WWE Universe.

"There's no words in the dictionary to express how that felt."

Truth elaborated that this profound feeling specifically related to the fan reaction to his contract situation. He recalled receiving the initial call about his contract expiration with his son present. Regarding a tweet he sent out following the news, Truth clarified his intention.

"My son was behind me when I got the call, and when I did the Tweet it was just to. I couldn't be salty; I'm not mad."

Reflecting on his career, Truth mentioned that his father's consistent advice to “enjoy the ride” resonated deeply with him, and he characterized his entire run with WWE as nothing short of “phenomenal.”

"I owe a thanks to WWE, I owe a thanks to the fans, I owe a thanks to the universe, I owe a thanks to everybody that enjoyed this ride!"

He further emphasized the sincerity of his message regarding the tweet.

"And when that Tweet went out? That was all it was meant to be."

Truth reiterated that the overwhelming fan reaction was truly the most moving experience he had ever encountered in his life. During that challenging period, his 25-year-old son became his primary source of motivation and support.

"For him to say: 'Dad, it was worth it.' I just broke down. That was deep to me."

Like many professional wrestlers of his generation, R-Truth acknowledged the demanding nature of being on the road year round. This lifestyle often meant missing numerous important family milestones, including his son's school graduation, funerals, anniversaries, and many other significant events.

"Because of this wrestling business and I did it, I did the best I could, but my son said: 'Dad, it was worth it,'"

The veteran performer also conveyed the immense impact of hearing the fans chant his name, expressing the powerful feeling of their collective support.

"And to see the fans, to hear them man, like, I'm watching them, I'm hearing them: 'We want Truth!' Y'all don't know how that feels."

Beyond the fans and his son, R-Truth also extended his gratitude to the many individuals working within WWE who stood by him during his contract situation. He highlighted that support came from every aspect of the company's operations.

"Every part of that machine that makes it work spoke up, again, for me, like, we always ask 'are we worthy?' and it brings like, such joy almost, makes me want to cry... Because, to feel that kind of love, is like, I want everybody to feel that at some point,"

Truth further underscored the widespread nature of the support, noting the collective agreement across social media platforms.

"It was a good testament too of, that many people, over 100 million on all social media. Everybody all agreed on one thing. That was deep to me; in this world, at this time?"
