The AEW Dynamite Summer Blockbuster emanated live from The Andrew J. Brady Music Center in Cincinnati, OH, with Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone on commentary.

\n

Tony Schiavone opened the show in the ring, calling Tommaso Ciampa to join him. Ciampa immediately made a demand, telling Schiavone he is to tell everyone that Tommaso Ciampa is better than Chris Jericho. When Schiavone hesitated, Ciampa forced him into the corner, ordering him to comply, or else

Ciampa will break his back.
As Schiavone began to oblige, Chris Jericho's music hit.

\n

Jericho came to the ring. Ciampa called for the music to be cut and asked Jericho what Jericho has to say for himself. Jericho then asked

who he needs to talk to to fight someone with hair.
He added,
I then introduce myself because they got off on the wrong foot.
Ciampa countered, stating
he is the guy who left Jericho laying.

\n

Jericho addressed him as Tommy, which Ciampa immediately objected to. Jericho made snide comments about Ciampa's name, prompting Ciampa to state

no one calls him Jericho.
Jericho then asked Ciampa
why Ciampa hates him so much.
Ciampa responded that
it’s all a joke to Jericho.

\n

Jericho retorted, I doesn’t think it’s a joke, and Ciampa’s mad because he’s not Jericho, and once Jericho returned, Ciampa wasn’t a big deal anymore. He then told Ciampa to

pull the stick out of his ass or he will shove it up there further.
This escalated into Ciampa and Jericho throwing hands, leading to security intervening in a pull-apart brawl that continued up the ramp and to the back.

\n

Backstage, Renee Paquette attempted to interview Kevin Knight. Don Callis interrupted, telling Paquette she isn’t interviewing correctly. Andrade El Idolo then appeared, asking Don Callis for a title shot and questioning

I wants a title shot, and asks if Don is with Knighty or with him.
Knight interjected, stating that
they have to get to the ring since he already HAS a title.

AEW Continental Championship Match: Jon Moxley vs. Shane Taylor

\n

AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley wrestled Shane Taylor. They locked up, and Taylor immediately shoved Moxley back into the corner for a clean break. Moxley then grabbed an armbar, forcing Taylor to the corner for another break. They exchanged blows, with Taylor initially taking control with body shots. Moxley sidestepped Taylor, sending him to the floor, then dove onto him.

\n

Taylor executed a hip toss that sent Moxley into the timekeeper's area, where they continued to brawl. Moxley went for Taylor's eyes, and Taylor retaliated by putting Moxley through a table. Taylor delivered a leg drop to Moxley on the apron while Moxley was trapped in the ring skirt. Taylor whipped Moxley into the corner, causing him to stumble and drop. As Moxley got up, Taylor charged into him in the corner again.

\n

Moxley gave Taylor the middle finger, prompting Taylor to punch him into the corner. Moxley charged into Taylor's boot before landing a series of blows and kicks, which Taylor halted with a right hand. Moxley then dropped Taylor with a clothesline.

\n

Moxley continued his assault with ten blows in the corner, gouging Taylor's eyes and biting his head. Taylor knocked Moxley to the mat from the top rope and followed with a splash, with ten minutes remaining in the match.

\n

Moxley applied a sleeper hold, but Taylor backed into the corner and hit Moxley with a left hand for a two-count. Taylor then applied a cobra clutch, which Moxley eventually worked to his feet to break. Taylor delivered a body blow and a forearm, dropping Moxley once more. Moxley fired back, exchanging strikes with Taylor. Moxley hit a cutter for a two-count, then transitioned into a juji gatame.

\n

Taylor fought free, landed a knee strike, and then grounded and pounded Moxley. Moxley picked Taylor's ankle, turning it into an ankle lock, but Taylor kicked free. Moxley then delivered a curb stomp and applied the bulldog choke. Shane Taylor tapped out, giving Jon Moxley the pinfall victory and allowing him to retain his AEW Continental Championship.

\n

After the match, Taylor attacked Moxley with a right hand, then took a belt from Carlie Bravo and used it to assault the champion. The Death Riders and Shane Taylor Promotions brawled in the ring, during which Taylor choked Moxley with the belt and performed a top-rope splash on him. Shane Taylor Promotions ultimately defeated The Death Riders in the brawl and taunted them from the stage.

\n

A hype video for the return of Mercedes Moné was shown.

\n

Don Callis came to the stage to introduce Kevin Knight, who then came to the ring and thanked Callis. Knight claimed everyone is upset with him instead of being mad at Darby Allin for not getting the job done. He suggested fans

might be mad at Speedball Mike Bailey for breaking up JetSpeed.
Knight asserted,
He knows the fans are not mad at Knight teaming up with Don Callis.
He then called out MJF.

\n

Darby Allin's music played, and Don Callis quickly exited. Allin hit Kevin Knight with a skateboard, stating he hopes New York was worth it. As The Don Callis Family approached the ring, Darby Allin escaped through the crowd and out of the building.

\n

Backstage, Mark Briscoe was seen speaking with Tony Khan, who remarked that it is a good solution.

\n

Mark Briscoe vs. PAC

\n

Mark Briscoe then wrestled PAC. The match began with PAC immediately backing Briscoe into the ropes and breaking clean. Briscoe executed an arm wringer to send PAC to the mat, while PAC responded with a snapmare and a single-leg takedown. After a shoulder tackle from Briscoe, both men slapped each other, and Briscoe delivered a series of chops in the corner.

\n

PAC used a boot to send Briscoe to the floor. Briscoe quickly re-entered the ring, landing a dropkick through the ropes on PAC, followed by a body slam. Briscoe then went to the apron for a Foley elbow drop. He chopped PAC into a chair and charged, but PAC cut him off with a big boot and delivered a brainbuster onto the chair.

\n

After a commercial break, the action returned to the ring with both men exchanging strikes. Briscoe dropped PAC with a chop and followed with a leaping elbow strike off the ropes and an exploder out of the corner. Briscoe put PAC on the top rope, joined him, and delivered an Iconoclasm for a two-count. Briscoe then hit a brainbuster and went to the top, but PAC rolled out of the way. Briscoe descended, and PAC nailed him through the ropes.

\n

They exchanged chops and forearms, with Briscoe landing a big boot. PAC countered with a German suplex as Briscoe came off the ropes. Briscoe then suplexed both himself and PAC to the floor, followed by a neckbreaker off the apron. Briscoe rolled PAC into the ring for a two-count and went to the top for a Froggy Bow, but PAC got his knees up. PAC then went to the top, but Briscoe avoided his leap. As Briscoe charged, PAC delivered a belly-to-belly suplex. PAC went to the top for a shooting star press, but Briscoe again got his knees up, then hit a Jay Driller for the pin and the win.

Briscoe Challenges MJF to Steel Cage Match at Forbidden Door

\n

Following his victory, Mark Briscoe grabbed a microphone and stated that he had asked MJF for a title shot, but MJF refused, saying I asked MJF for a title shot, but MJF said no because he is a bitch. Briscoe declared that

now he has a direct path to the title match
and called out MJF.

\n

MJF's music played, and he appeared in the upper stands. MJF told Briscoe that Briscoe is not a great listener. He asserted,

I am the final word, and his final word on Briscoe getting a title shot is no.
MJF claimed,
a rising tide raises all ships and he is the rising tide of this company.
He added that Briscoe was bragging about The Conglomeration, but
friends are a liability, and MJF has the most important thing in the world: money.

\n

In the ring, Blake Christian, Jay Lethal, and Lee Johnson attacked Mark Briscoe. MJF instructed them to take him out. Briscoe initially fought them off, but as they gained the upper hand, The Conglomeration entered the ring to drive off Christian, Lethal, and Johnson. With MJF storming around at ringside, Briscoe declared

there is a higher power.
He then challenged MJF, stating that
MJF will need to get some friends because at Forbidden Door, they will have a six-on-six match, and if Briscoe wins, he gets a title shot, and it will be inside a steel cage.
The challenge confirmed a six-on-six Steel Cage match at Forbidden Door, with a title shot on the line for Briscoe if his team wins.

\n

Andrade El Idolo’s music then hit, and he walked past MJF on his way to the ring for his match against Orange Cassidy. Don Callis joined the commentary team for this bout.

\n

Andrade secured a waistlock into a full nelson, which Cassidy quickly countered into a hip toss. After running the ropes, Cassidy executed another hip toss and then tossed Andrade into the ropes, where Andrade performed his signature tranquilo pose. Cassidy responded by zipping up Andrade’s pockets. Andrade then removed his pants to reveal his wrestling trunks, prompting Cassidy to also remove his pants, revealing another pair underneath.

\n

The match between Andrade El Idolo and Orange Cassidy was underway, but the source did not provide the outcome.
