Chad Gable has opened up about complications from the shoulder surgery that kept him out of WWE action from mid-2025 until his return to main roster programming in January. Gable is documenting the road back in a multi-part YouTube series, and in part two he disclosed that the initial procedure led to what he called a bonus surgery.
Gable said he underwent shoulder surgery to address the injury that sidelined him. Once in the operating room, additional damage was found that imaging had not fully captured.
We're done. Surgery went well. Fixed it up just like we were supposed to but, while Dr. Dugus was in there, he found the bicep tendon at the shoulder was pretty much completely shredded to a degree that he did not know because the images do not always show everything, so when he went in there, the bicep tendon was actually a lot worse than he thought it was so, he repaired that as well since he was in there anyway so, a little bonus surgery for Gable here.
Before his WWE return, Gable finished his run as the Original El Grande Americano in AAA, losing a Mask versus Mask match to El Grande Americano, Ludwig Kaiser, at Noches de Los Grandes. Since coming back, Gable has been apologizing to the luchadores he disrespected during that character run.
