Damian Priest has opened up about his views on fan behavior, particularly in the context of large-scale wrestling events like WrestleMania 42 week in Las Vegas, which was reportedly a challenging period for talent due to intense fan interactions.
Speaking in a new interview, Priest acknowledged the passion of wrestling fans, stating that their enthusiasm can sometimes lead them to forget basic social etiquette and invade personal space. He suggested that this behavior often stems from intense passion rather than malicious intent, with fans sometimes losing control of their actions.
“There’s a lot of passionate fans, let’s say that. I get it, when you’re so passionate about something, you kinda forget how to act normal. You forget just common decency and you invade people’s space and what not. It’s not out of maliciousness, it’s just out of passion. You kind of forget where you are because you kind of lose control of your functions. I do forgive it a little bit, but I’m not saying that it’s also okay [to the point] that I’m happy when it’s happening. It’s a part of it. To anyone who’s in a celebrity type of role, if you’re going to complain about being approached by fans, then you chose the wrong industry.”
While Priest expressed a degree of understanding, he clarified that he does not condone excessive fan behavior. He also commented that individuals entering public-facing roles should anticipate being approached by fans.
