Drew McIntyre is reportedly set to be absent from WWE programming for at least the next month due to commitments filming the action-thriller "The Last Druid." The film also stars Russell Crowe.
The news comes from 's Mike Johnson, who reported that McIntyre has been removed from the FanaticsFest event in New York City, scheduled for July 16-19. This scheduling conflict lends further credence to earlier rumors that the former WWE Champion might miss SummerSlam, which takes place August 1-2 in Minneapolis.
If McIntyre is unavailable during the third weekend of July, it leaves limited time for WWE, led by Triple H, to establish a storyline for him at the company's major summer event.
Johnson also indicated that McIntyre has secured a third feature film role later this year. This development suggests the 41-year-old Scotsman may be following a path similar to John Cena and Dave Bautista by pursuing significant acting opportunities.
