Drew McIntyre Reportedly Out Through SummerSlam, Rhea Ripley Knee Injury Update

Drew McIntyre may miss SummerSlam amid film commitments, while Rhea Ripley's knee injury could force WWE to rework SmackDown women's plans.

By Editor2 min read

Drew McIntyre has not appeared on WWE television since losing a Street Fight to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania on April 18, and new reporting suggests The Scottish Warrior may remain off TV even longer than expected.

Drew McIntyre Return Timeline

McIntyre will reportedly no longer be back in time for SummerSlam. His absence dates to that WrestleMania loss, and he has already filmed the upcoming Highlander remake. He is also set to join the Russell Crowe starring action film The Last Druid, and his growing film schedule appears poised to keep him busy for the foreseeable future.

McIntyre is slated to appear at Fanatics Fest on Thursday, July 16. That appearance could signal a window for a WWE TV return to set up SummerSlam business, but for now his calendar appears otherwise packed.

Rhea Ripley Injury Update

Rhea Ripley suffered a knee injury during WWE's tour of Italy. WrestleVotes provided an update on her availability during WrestleVotes Live, with Joey Votes saying:

They're waiting still to figure out how long this will be and if she misses SummerSlam. If she misses SummerSlam, a lot of plans change.

One expected match that could change is Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill, should Ripley not be cleared to compete. Ripley the title at WrestleMania 42 and has defended it once on television with a victory over former champion Jade Cargill in Italy.

TNA Creative

A former SmackDown writer may be joining TNA's creative team. TNA head of creative Tommy Dreamer announced his departure from TNA Wrestling on Wednesday during his appearance on Busted Open Radio.
