The "Moana" Experience in London featured a 20-foot-tall replica of Maui’s fishhook and a recreation of Moana’s canoe. The Pacific-inspired event included dance, drum, and vocal performances of "Moana" songs. Cast and filmmakers surprised fans at Potters Fields Park near London’s Tower Bridge. Students from the British Theatre Academy performed Maui’s song “You’re Welcome,” and Dwayne Johnson joined them on stage.
Attendees explored Moana’s wooden canoe, participated in Pua’s Pig Petting Farm, Lei Garland Making Workshops, and a Moana karaoke pod. Movie-inspired game stations and Pacific food and drink were also available, with visitors able to take home movie merchandise.
Students from St. Gregory’s School in Colchester, who went viral on TikTok after asking Johnson to comment on their video were among the invited attendees. Johnson had previously responded to the school via video, and these students met him in person at the London event.
The live-action reimagining of the animated adventure, "Moana," follows Moana (Lagaʻaia) as she voyages beyond her island with demigod Maui (Johnson) to restore prosperity to her people. The film is directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Dwayne Johnson, p.g.a., Beau Flynn, p.g.a., Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, p.g.a., and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The film features the new song “Along The Way,” written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Auliʻi Cravalho, Laga‘aia, and Johnson. Original songs are by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi, and Mark Mancina, with an original score by Mancina.
Producers Beau Flynn, p.g.a., Hiram Garcia, p.g.a., executive producer Scott Sheldon, and executive producer Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated films were also in attendance. Choreographer and associate producer Tiana Nonosina Liufau and assistant choreographer Kayla Faʻamaligi were present at the event.
