When asked about his favorite rugby player of all time, Johnson, who spent part of his childhood in Auckland, responded:
Portia, I mean ... come on. We’re doing a documentary on her.
Further details on the project were not disclosed as Johnson was escorted into the event. Woodman-Wickliffe was also present on the blue carpet at the same premiere.
Johnson's New Zealand Connection and 'Moana'
Before teasing the documentary, Johnson, 54, spoke about his personal connection to New Zealand, stating that his time in the country had a lasting impact on his life.
I miss being in New Zealand. I grew up an only child and a trailer park kid in the States, and then we moved from Hawaii to New Zealand and lived in Grey Lynn for a little over a year.
During his time living with extended family in Aotearoa, Johnson explained he learned valuable lessons about family, ceremony, and respect. He noted these themes resonate strongly with the narrative of 'Moana,' and are lessons he now shares with his own daughters.
Not only do I miss it, but I’m also so grateful that Featured names
