The actor and producer recently shared with Esquire that his desire is to concentrate on his professional work and maintain privacy regarding his political views. Among those responding to Johnson's remarks was actor George Takei, who expressed his disapproval on Threads. Takei criticized Johnson's choice to remain politically silent, stating, "Silence is complicity." Actor Wil Wheaton also voiced his disappointment, writing, "So disappointing to find out he is such a coward."
Johnson's statements originated from an interview with Esquire, where he outlined his wish to distance politics from his public image. He indicated that his primary focus is on film production and storytelling, rather than engaging in political debates.
