Dwayne Johnson Jokingly Confesses to "Filthy" Thoughts After Misinterpreting "Stroke" Question

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had a humorous moment during a press tour for the live-action Moana remake when he misinterpreted a question about swimming strokes.

The interviewer asked Johnson, "What's your stroke of choice?" Given the context of the Moana tour and its oceanic themes, the question was clearly about swimming. However, Johnson's initial response indicated he had a very different interpretation in mind.

Without hesitation, Johnson responded with apparent confidence, which was followed by his own laughter. The interviewer, realizing the miscommunication, attempted to steer the conversation back to its original, family-friendly intent, stating, "Okay, alright, fine. I mean I was going swimming…I was thinking… what's happening?"

It was at this point that Johnson recognized his error and the humorous detour his thoughts had taken. He then acknowledged the mix-up, stating:

Oh… oh right… I get it more, Maui. The ocean, Maui. The ocean, yeah. I went to a whole other place.

Johnson later elaborated on the incident in a caption on his Instagram account. He humorously wrote, "I may always look clean, but under the hood your boy's filthy," and admitted that he "honestly thought he was asking about a different kind of 'stroke.'" He also listed "Domination" and "Jesus" before stating he needed carbs and sleep.

The incident occurred during the Moana global tour. Johnson, who is reprising his role as Maui in the live-action adaptation is set to return to theaters on July 10.
