Dwayne Johnson has expressed his desire to concentrate on creating and storytelling, moving away from what he describes as the political noise surrounding Hollywood. He emphasized that this focus is a necessity, not just a preference.

“What I have learned through experience is that I need to keep, need, not want, the main thing the main thing,” Johnson stated. “And the main thing for me, the thing that in the morning I swing my legs out of bed and I run towards is creating. It’s art. It’s storytelling.”

Johnson, a prominent star in family entertainment has previously been recognized for projects such as Disney's animated film MOANA and JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL. He has learned to keep his political views private, finding politics to be “omnipresent” and disliking “the slinging. I hate all the b**** that comes with it.”

This stance is framed as a deliberate choice to focus on creative work rather than fear. While Johnson endorsed former President Joe Biden in 2020, he later announced he would not endorse a presidential candidate in 2024, citing the division his previous endorsement caused.

“I wouldn’t do that because my goal is to bring our country together,” Johnson said. “I believe in that, in my DNA. So in the spirit of that, there’s going to be no endorsement.”

This approach may differ from audience expectations of celebrities engaging in public political discourse. Johnson also criticized cancel-culture pressure, asserting the importance of truthful answers even when they are unpopular.

His comments underscore the value of storytelling for families, emphasizing that artists best serve their audiences by prioritizing character, courage, sacrifice, and wonder. Johnson's career, often built on broad, crowd-pleasing projects, gives his perspective significant weight, as he understands the importance of appealing to a diverse audience.

Johnson’s insistence on keeping creation and storytelling as “the main thing” offers a reminder that entertainment can serve as a unifying force.
