In a recent interview, Shaw, known as 'The Quintessential Diva,' articulated that her goal has always been to be a versatile in-ring competitor. This aspiration has been with her since the very beginning of her wrestling journey.
\nI think that when I started wrestling, I’ve always wanted to be like, ‘Hey, I wanna be an all around wrestler,’ right? I love storytelling and every wrestler is different. They can offer something different, they have different styles. For me, my ability to be able to do everything is an asset. So I’ve always wanted to be that since the beginning. So I was like, ‘I want to be a high flyer. I want to be strong.’ Maybe not the strong girl because I’m like, ‘I don’t think I’m that strong.’ Like technical wrestlers, submissionists, all this stuff. So it’s like, I feel like when I was training, it’s like, ‘Okay, I’m going take a little bit of everything,’ because, like I said, when you get in a ring and then you go, storytelling wise, if someone’s there that’s strong, why would I want to be strong? Why wouldn’t I outsmart them? I’m trying to win a competition here, darling. So then you try other skills per se.
Shaw explained that her approach to matches involves assessing an opponent's strengths and adjusting her strategy accordingly. Instead of attempting to directly match an opponent's particular strength, Shaw prioritizes outsmarting them to secure a victory. This demonstrates her strategic use of diverse skills, adapting to the situation in the ring.
She noted that even during her training, she focused on absorbing elements from different wrestling disciplines. Shaw expressed a desire to incorporate skills from technical wrestlers and submissionists, aiming to build a well-rounded repertoire.
Desire to Return to Japan
Elsewhere in the interview, Gisele Shaw also spoke about her strong desire to return and compete in Japan. The full extent of her comments on this topic was part of the comprehensive discussion regarding her career and future aspirations.
