Glenn Jacobs, widely recognized as the WWE Superstar Kane, recently revisited his early career portrayal of the "fake Diesel" character during a WWE Vault/WWE Photo Shoot interview. The angle, which took place following the departures of Kevin Nash and Scott Hall to WCW, saw Jacobs and Rick Bognar tasked with mirroring the iconic duo.
Jacobs shared his perspective on why the short-lived storyline ultimately faltered. He noted the involvement of Jim Ross in the concept and stated his belief that the angle did not succeed because JR was not perceived as a believable villain by the audience.
The run provided needed in-ring experience before my emergence as Kane.
Despite the angle's lack of long-term success, Jacobs views the experience as valuable. He indicated that the time spent performing as "fake Diesel" provided him with crucial in-ring experience that contributed to his development as a performer before he eventually debuted as Kane. Jacobs went on to become one of WWE's most recognizable stars and has since transitioned to a career in public service, currently serving as the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.
