Oba Femi Declares King of the Ring Ambition and Calls Out Brock Lesnar
Announcers Michael Cole and Corey Graves opened the broadcast. Oba Femi then made his way to the ring, addressing the Paris audience and stating he had business to discuss. He highlighted a commonality with Paul Heyman:
\nHim and Paul Heyman don't agree on many things, but they have one thing in common. They don't believe in predictions, he believes in spoilers.
Femi then delivered his spoiler for the King of the Ring tournament:
it is a spoiler that he will run through everyone in King of the Ring and it will continue through Night of Champions and he will destroy him as well. He will take his rightful position on the throne as King of the Ring.
He continued, stating,
your ruler needs a crown to be a ruler.Femi declared this year is for collecting trophies, but noted one remains:
That is the head of Brock Lesnar.He highlighted their one and one record, claiming Lesnar
sneaks in and he wins and disappears. Brock came in and cheated to win.Femi criticized Lesnar’s advocate:
Paul talks about a big bad Beast, but all he has seen is a big bad bitch. When he sees Brock, he will settle the score.
Dominik Mysterio Confronts Oba Femi
Dominik Mysterio’s music played, and he made his way to the stage. Mysterio dismissed Femi’s claims, stating:
Oba doesn't rule anybody. You are so worried about Brock Lesnar, but you should have been worried about him.
Mysterio questioned Femi’s tenure, asking,
how long has he been here. A cup of coffee?He then contrasted it with his own experience, claiming,
He says he is a 20 year veteran in this game.Mysterio asserted his own claim to royalty:
he is the King of the Luchadores and once he is your King of the Ring, he will rule over you.
As Mysterio approached the ring, he told Oba Femi to
make this easy and bend your knee and respect the stache.JD McDonagh then appeared behind Oba Femi and hit him with a chair. Oba Femi turned and punched the chair into JD McDonagh’s face. Oba Femi then grabbed JD and Dominik Mysterio, and a 619 was delivered to Oba Femi. When Dominik Mysterio went to the top rope, Oba Femi caught him and tossed him across the ring. JD McDonagh quickly pulled Dominik Mysterio to the floor. Oba Femi then issued a warning to Mysterio:
Dom he messed up tonight. We know Rey is your father. He says next week, he will introduce Dom to his daddy.
Seth Rollins Reflects and Challenges Roman Reigns
Following a look back at last week's Raw main event, Jackie Redmond interviewed Seth Rollins. Rollins began by saying,
time is a flat circle.He reflected on his last time in Paris:
The last time he was in Paris, he was the World Champion and the leader of the Vision.
Rollins then stated,
The Vision is in the past. The present is the King of the Ring, that he will win. The future is him taking back the title he never lost.He then directly addressed Roman Reigns:
he has a date down the line with Roman Reigns. A man he used to call brother. A man who can't seem to win his titles on his own. A man who can't seem to beat Seth Rollins when it matters most. You are holding on to a title that does not belong to you. Seth says he made that title and it belongs to him.
Queen of the Ring First Round Match: Liv Morgan Advances
In a Queen of the Ring First Round Match, Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, and Chelsea Green faced off. Alexa Bliss appeared to injure her knee after hitting the ropes when Becky Lynch moved. After a back and forth contest, Liv Morgan used a jackknife cover on Chelsea Green for the three count and the Queen of the Ring First Round Match.
Rey Mysterio and Penta Reflect on Lucha Libre History
Michael Cole and Corey Graves discussed Penta and Rey Mysterio. Rey Mysterio spoke about his long history representing lucha libre in WWE. Penta echoed this sentiment, stating that
when you talk about lucha libre, you talk about Rey Mysterio. He inspired him.Rey Mysterio remarked he had
never has he seen a member of the family rise as fast as Penta.Penta described stepping into the ring with Rey as
an honor and he says it is the opportunity of a lifetime.Rey reciprocated, saying,
it is an honor for him to step into the ring with Penta.Penta emphasized the significance of their upcoming bout, calling it
more than a match. It is a piece of history of lucha libre.
Chad Gable Apologizes to Penta; Ethan Page Claims Favoritism
Penta then turned to see Chad Gable. Gable stated he would
keep it short.He revealed he spoke with Rey Fenix on SmackDown and had
done a lot of things he was ashamed of over the last few years.Gable attributed these actions to his loss to Penta in his debut match:
It started because he lost to Penta in his debut match. He did not take that loss like a man. He took it like a coward.
Chad Gable then apologized to Penta. Penta acknowledged Gable's apology, adding that
he loves lucha libra and he says it is hard to respect someone and say you are wrong. Penta says there is someone else he needs to apologize to.
Byron Saxton later interviewed Ethan Page on the Interstitial Stage. Page questioned if his path was what he wanted, noting,
He has been here for two months and he wrestled for the title on a PLE. He had Penta beat.He then questioned,
How long did it take him to get these opportunities. There is favoritism on this brand thanks to Mr. Pearce.Page claimed that while Penta says he has no fear,
he fears Ethan Page.He demanded,
Where is his rematch?Page asserted,
he is the smartest and the smartest gets what he wants. Page says he will get his rematch. It does not matter who wins because the title is his target.
WWE Returns to Atlanta; Rollins and Ford Talk Backstage
WWE announced its return to Atlanta on September 6th for Sunday Night's Main Event. Separately, Montez Ford found Seth Rollins in the locker room and wished him luck in the King of the Ring tournament. Rollins expressed gratitude for Ford's help and inquired about Angelo.
