Johnson reprises his role as the demigod Maui in the live-action adaptation, while Cravalho, though not returning as Moana, served as an executive producer on the new film. At the event held at Potters Field Park, Cravalho posed with Johnson and Catherine Laga’aia, who takes on the role of Moana in the live-action movie, alongside director Thomas Kail.

The Moana Experience featured a 20-foot replica of Maui's fishhook and a recreation of Moana's canoe. Attendees enjoyed Pacific-inspired performances, including dance, drum, and vocal renditions of popular songs from the movie. Students from the British Theatre Academy performed Maui’s signature song, “You’re Welcome,” with Johnson joining them on stage for a surprise appearance.

In the live-action film, Moana, portrayed by Catherine Laga’aia, embarks on a journey with Maui, played by Dwayne Johnson, to restore prosperity to her people. The movie is set to premiere in theaters on July 10, 2026. The event also highlighted the fashion choices of Cravalho and Laga’aia, with Cravalho wearing a Patbo dress and Jimmy Choo sandals, and Laga’aia in LoveShackFancy.
