This increased stake has revitalized the tournament, drawing parallels to AEW's Owen Hart Cup, which also grants world title matches to its male and female winners at All In. With the King and Queen of the Ring becoming an annual event since 2024, the impact on its winners' careers has varied significantly.

King and Queen of the Ring 2021

Zelina Vega made history as the inaugural Queen of the Ring, defeating Doudrop (now Piper Niven) in a match that, while under six minutes, marked a key moment for the women's division. This victory became arguably the most significant accolade of Vega's WWE career at the time. Following the tournament, Vega continued her feud with Doudrop and later secured the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship with Carmella. However, her Queen of the Ring win did not immediately transition into a singles title push, though she would go on to win the WWE Women's United States Championship years later.

Xavier Woods realized a long-held ambition by becoming King of the Ring, overcoming Finn Bálor in a final that also ran under ten minutes. Despite this personal achievement, Woods did not receive a world title opportunity post-tournament, continuing feuds with The Bloodline and Happy Corbin. For both 2021 winners, their King and Queen of the Ring victories were perceived more as personal milestones than direct launching pads to world championship success.

King and Queen of the Ring 2024

The 2024 tournaments saw a distinct shift in the immediate aftermath for its winners. Gunther's King of the Ring victory immediately elevated him to main event status. After a controversial final win against Randy Orton, Gunther wasted no time in targeting Damian Priest and the World Heavyweight Championship. This earned him a title match at SummerSlam, where he defeated Priest to capture his first main roster world championship in WWE.

Gunther then embarked on a lengthy World Heavyweight Championship reign, with notable feuds developing from his tournament run. His rivalry with Orton, stemming from the contested final pinfall, culminated in a revenge match at Bash in Berlin, and his conflict with Priest extended through much of the summer.

Nia Jax's Queen of the Ring victory in 2024 also yielded immediate dividends. Following her win over Lyra Valkyria in the final, Jax challenged Bayley for the WWE Women's Championship at SummerSlam. She defeated Bayley to claim the title, completing a significant comeback story after returning to WWE less than a year prior. As champion, Jax became a central figure on SmackDown, engaging in a prominent feud with Bayley while the presence of Tiffany Stratton's Money in the Bank briefcase created a dynamic storyline as tensions rose between the two allies.
