WWE Raw returned stateside on June 29 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, following the festivities from Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. Oba Femi appeared at the start of the show addressing his win in the King of the Ring over Jey Uso at Night of Champions. Brock Lesnar made a surprise entrance during Femi's address. Paul Heyman informed Lesnar that Femi has been insulting him since their last match at Clash In Italy. Lesnar then low-blowed and F-5'd Femi.

Femi got back on the mic and challenged Lesnar to a trilogy match at SummerSlam, rather than taking his world title shot that he literally just won in the King of the Ring. Lesnar accepted, countering with the Hell in a Cell stipulation, a match he's never lost. This stipulation may indicate Lesnar's impending retirement. The match between Femi and Lesnar is scheduled for SummerSlam.

The night ended with the setup for Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns' SummerSlam World Heavyweight Championship match. The promo was largely Rollins recalling history and propping up Reigns, which simultaneously propped himself up since Reigns has never beaten Rollins cleanly one-on-one. That was the crux of his point and argument on the heels of Saturday's Bron Breakker steel cage win. Rollins noted that he and Reigns don't have many more opportunities to have a match of this significance at their age. Jacob Fatu's presence in the background during the Rollins-Reigns segment was a reminder that Rollins, in storyline, should have simply been able to challenge Reigns to Tribal Combat right off the bat and avoid his entire speech. It was noted that Reigns has to accept challenges. There is significant history between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, with the pair being compared to the modern-day Rock and Steve Austin.

Jacob Fatu stated he will be back on SmackDown to take care of Solo Sikoa. Solo Sikoa was on the show before Fatu's statement.

Paul Heyman gave Austin Theory the cold shoulder after the Lesnar segment, seemingly signaling the long-awaited end of The Vision, or at least his inclusion. Before losing to Joe Hendry clean as a sheet, Austin Theory revealed that The Vision will get an instant rematch against The Street Profits next week. Theory's inclusion in the picture has become a colossal waste.

Lyra Valkyria explained her heel turn on Bayley in a vignette on Raw. The inaugural Women's Intercontinental Champion grew frustrated with being the good guy and continuously losing after dealing with Bayley's drama for over a year. Valkyria admitted relief in breaking away from her previous character, stating it wasn't her intention to turn heel but emotions get the better of people.
