Chan, who traveled from Canada to Florida, is charged with one count of interstate domestic violence against Morgan. According to the criminal complaint, Chan flew from Scarborough, Ontario, to Orlando, Florida, on May 26, 2025. He informed customs agents that he would be staying at the WWE Performance Center, which does not offer housing facilities.

Four days later, on May 30, 2025, Chan allegedly traveled to Liv Morgan's home in Florida. The complaint states that he circled her property multiple times before entering through the backyard. He reportedly attempted to gain entry to the front door but was unsuccessful. While on the property, Chan allegedly found and held an air pellet on the front porch. After spending several hours there, he departed, leaving a note.

The note left at Morgan's residence reportedly included Chan's name, Canadian address, and phone number. According to the criminal complaint, the note read, in part:

It's me Shawn the guy you all hang out with on [gaming platform deleted] online. You've been trying to contact me, or should I say reach out to me when I'm absent from that game. So who's the stalker huh?! I NEVER said and did anything bad for over 10 years, yet you all dared hating me for no reason. I came here to pay just a friendly visit, nothing more. Yet, I'm the one who looks like a stalker thx to all of you. And you all think I'm going to have empathy, sympathy and care about any of you anymore? I will start talking and doing whatever I want despite all your shoosh finger faces that you all make. Yea, I just wanted to let you know that I was here.

Chan was arrested by the FBI on June 3, 2025, after WWE security recognized him from security footage obtained from Morgan's home and alerted authorities. He was subsequently indicted on June 25, 2025, and faces a potential sentence of five years imprisonment if convicted. Chan has been incarcerated since his arrest and has made multiple unsuccessful attempts to be released on bail pending his trial. In recent months, Chan pushed to introduce an insanity defense in his case.
