Tony D'Angelo currently stands at the mountaintop of WWE NXT, reigning as the brand's champion following extensive roster turnover throughout 2026. As "The Don of NXT" defends his gold against various contenders, discussions have emerged regarding a potential call up to the WWE main roster in the near future.
\nWWE has made several NXT call ups throughout 2026. At the start of the year, Oba Femi, Je’Von Evans, and Trick Williams transitioned to Raw and SmackDown. Additionally, Sol Ruca, Joe Hendry, Ethan Page, Blake Monroe, and Fatal Influence have all moved on from NXT since WrestleMania 42. These shifts open the door for the company to have more call ups following the WWE SummerSlam 2026 premium live event. WWE NXT alums Oba Femi and Trick Williams made the official SummerSlam poster ahead of what could be their first appearances at the event. Following "The Biggest Party of the Summer," fans could see Tony D’Angelo join many of his peers from NXT on the main roster moving forward.
Reuniting with Bron Breakker on Raw
Bron Breakker and Tony D’Angelo made their WWE television debuts within one month of each other in the Fall of 2021. During his time on WWE NXT, Tony D’Angelo became good friends outside of the squared circle with Bron Breakker. Prior to their NXT debuts, there were even initial plans for D’Angelo to team with Breakker as a duo on the brand. While those plans did not materialize, Breakker has since gone on to become a major star on the main roster, achieving success as a former two time Intercontinental Champion. Meanwhile, D’Angelo remains on NXT as the NXT Champion.
If Tony D’Angelo transitions to the main roster, a reunion with Bron Breakker in a faction known as The Vision on Monday Night Raw is a potential scenario. This move could see D’Angelo join his former NXT peer on a prominent main roster brand.
Challenging for the Intercontinental Championship
Another potential main roster path for Tony D’Angelo involves a direct challenge for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Penta captured the WWE Intercontinental Title from Dominik Mysterio on the March 2, 2026 episode of Raw. Since winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship in March, Penta has introduced an open challenge, welcoming all challengers to vie for his title. This has led to Penta successfully defending his championship against a litany of challengers on Monday Night Raw.
This open challenge structure could open the door for new contenders to emerge from WWE NXT, including Tony D’Angelo. Using this Intercontinental Title Open Challenge could see Tony D’Angelo join WWE Raw with a victory to become the new champion immediately upon his call up.
Rekindling a Rivalry with Oba Femi
Tony D’Angelo’s history with Oba Femi in NXT presents another main roster opportunity. During his run on WWE NXT, Tony D’Angelo found one of his fiercest opponents and rivals in Oba Femi. Feuding over the NXT North American Championship, Femi and D’Angelo fought tooth and nail with one another to prove who was the better man. This rivalry led to Tony D’Angelo becoming the first man in WWE to ever score a pinfall victory over Oba Femi, ending Femi's lengthy undefeated streak. D’Angelo notably handed Oba Femi two WWE NXT defeats in October 2024.
A rekindling of this rivalry on the WWE main roster could provide D’Angelo with another chance to prove his superiority over Femi by facing off with “The Ruler” one more time on Monday Night Raw.
Money in the Bank Opportunity
Tony D’Angelo could also set his sights on another title on the WWE main roster and potentially shoot to the top of the company. On June 8, 2026, WWE announced a schedule change for the Money in the Bank 2026 premium live event, moving it from Sunday, September 6, to Saturday, October 10. WWE will hold their Money In The Bank 2026 premium live event on October 10 from New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Money In The Bank match traditionally features six competitors battling for the prestigious Money In The Bank contract, which grants a championship opportunity at any time. D’Angelo could find his way to the WWE main roster by stepping into the ring for this prestigious ladder match. Joining the field to potentially win Money In The Bank, Tony D’Angelo could secure his place on Raw or SmackDown following the premium live event, giving him a direct path to a main roster title shot.
