Vince McMahon Reportedly Approved Major United States Title Change Botch

Former WWE referee Mike Chioda revealed that Vince McMahon approved a United States Championship finish that deviated from the original plan.

According to Chioda's account on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, R-Truth unexpectedly pinned Shinsuke Nakamura to win the WWE United States Championship. Chioda explained that R-Truth had relayed an incorrect finish prior to the match. However, under officiating protocol, the referee is required to count to three if a legal pinfall occurs and no kick-out is made.

Chioda stated that despite the confusion, Vince McMahon approved the finish as it transpired. R-Truth himself acknowledged the situation, praising Chioda's adherence to the rules during the bout.
