Vince McMahon Reportedly Threatened Firing Jinder Mahal One Month Before WWE Title Win

Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal has detailed a backstage incident in 2017 where Vince McMahon reportedly threatened to fire him following an in-ring accident.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Dhesi detailed a match against Finn Balor on RAW where a mistimed forearm strike left Balor with a concussion. Dhesi stated that upon returning backstage, McMahon told him, "I should fire you."

Following this warning, Dhesi was moved to SmackDown the subsequent week. He then became the No. 1 contender and, approximately one month after the match with Balor, went on to win the WWE Championship.

Mahal also reflected on the conclusion of his WWE tenure, expressing a desire for more direction and a clearer ending to his time with the company.
