Reports emerged in March 2026 that AAA Hall of Famer Konnan was hospitalized in San Diego, California, due to medical complications. It was reported that one of Konnan's legs was amputated earlier that year. Months after his first leg amputation, it has now been reported that the veteran needed to have his other leg amputated as well.
Konnan, 62, has reportedly been experiencing significant health challenges. Former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo recently shared details regarding Konnan's condition on The Coach & Bro Show, stating he had checked up on him.
“Konnan has gone through a double leg amputation,” Russo said on the show. “I knew he had the one leg amputated, and the second one was in question. That was the last time I talked to him, probably about two months ago. They had to remove the second one. So I called Konnan yesterday. I didn’t talk to him long, man. Because he’s very weak. He’s going through grueling rehabilitation.“You know, learning how to. I can’t even imagine that. We can’t. You can’t imagine that. So he really, really sounded exhausted. So I’m like, ‘Brother, go relax. We’re praying for you, we love you’ and all that. But I do want to point this out.”
Vince Russo estimates Konnan’s medical rehabilitation costs might exceed $1 million. According to Russo, Konnan’s financials have been taken care of by WWE.
“Konnan said to me that the WWE has paid every single cent of his medical bills. Yeah, and that’s got to be pointed out and that’s got to be said. He said, ‘Vince, the WWE have paid every penny and I was only working with them for a short time,’” Russo relayed.
Before his hospitalization, Konnan was a regular part of WWE’s AAA brand. He worked as a color commentator alongside Corey Graves and JBL (John Bradshaw Layfield) for the brand.
WWE star Chelsea Green and WWE’s Bronson Reed were mentioned in a related article.
