WWE SmackDown Results (June 12): Jey Uso and Charlotte Flair Advance, Sami Zayn Named Referee for Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther

WWE SmackDown from Providence on June 12 advanced Jey Uso and Charlotte Flair in the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, while Sami Zayn was named special guest referee for Cody Rhodes' rematch with Gunther.

In the King of the Ring quarterfinal, Jey Uso pinned LA Knight to win a Fatal 4-Way also featuring Royce Keys and Finn Balor. Solo Sikoa hit Knight with a Samoan Spike to set up Keys' Ultimate Spinebuster, and Uso finished with a Frog Splash. Finn Balor was kept on the outside and was seen with Jimmy Uso near the timekeepers' area during the closing sequence. Earlier, Jacob Fatu tried to recruit Sikoa back to The Bloodline at Roman Reigns' request, while The Usos teased an interaction with Rhodes at the start of the show.

Rhodes and Zayn escalated their tension after Zayn demanded Rhodes tell him whether recent incidents had truly been accidental, referencing Rhodes' WrestleMania 40 post-win celebration with the men who became his rivals. Rhodes snapped back at Zayn.

Rhodes said Zayn sucks now and apologized that the title is the reason things have dissolved between them, adding that because he is the champion, Zayn never will be.

Zayn slapped Rhodes and apologized vehemently. Rhodes slapped Zayn back to even the exchange, and Zayn nearly grabbed a chair before stopping short. Rather than a Rhodes, Zayn, and Gunther triple threat, Zayn will officiate the Rhodes vs. Gunther rematch on next week's SmackDown.

Charlotte Flair also advanced in the Queen of the Ring tournament on the same card. Rey Fenix defended the AAA Cruiserweight Championship on SmackDown in a match added to the broadcast.
