Limitless Wrestling announced the change on June 11, 2026, stating the reason for Rourke's withdrawal as a WWE contractual obligation. The promotion released an official statement:

𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀K𝐈𝐍𝐆: Due to a WWE contractual obligation, Aaron Rourke will no longer be appearing for Limitless Wrestling on June 20th. As our wrestlers move up the ranks, this is the risk we run as an independent organization booking contracted talent. We’ll continue to take those risks to always bring the very best professional wrestling possible to Maine. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Limitless Wrestling acknowledges that booking contracted talent carries an inherent risk for an independent organization. Despite this, the promotion aims to continue taking these risks to bring the best professional wrestling possible to Maine, expressing gratitude for understanding and continued support.

Rourke is the reigning WWE EVOLVE Champion. He recently appeared on Tuesday’s NXT, serving as a judge in the Mr. NXT Pageant which featured Shiloh Hill and Tristan Angels.

This incident with Aaron Rourke follows a similar scenario where WWE ID recently pulled Starboy Charlie (Chazz “Starboy” Hall) from an upcoming West Coast Pro appearance.
