During WWE WrestleMania 42 Sunday, Roman Reigns defeated CM Punk to become the new world heavyweight champion. Punk has not appeared on WWE television since the night after WrestleMania.
Over the past few days, numerous unverified reports have surfaced, alleging issues such as tension between Punk and WWE or claims that he had requested his release from the company. Mike Johnson shared information regarding Punk’s status, noting that a trusted WWE source, speaking to him, stated they were unaware of the specific reasons for Punk’s television absence. The source strongly dismissed the veracity of the rumors, saying:
“It has as much truth to it as the stories that claimed Saudi Arabia bought us years ago.”
The trusted WWE source also confirmed that new merchandise is being prepared for Punk and that appearances are set for this summer. Summing up the situation and the surrounding rumors, the source called it
“much ado about nothing.”
While no official return date has been confirmed, CM Punk is currently being advertised for the July 6th edition of RAW in his hometown of Chicago, IL.
