Cena detailed his swift commitment to the project, explaining that director Matt Spicer needed him to secure the role. "Eric was trying to get the film made," Cena told The Hollywood Reporter. "Netflix said, 'We'll make it if you can get John.' Eric knew me and said, 'Would you want to be a part of it?' I read the script in 90 minutes. I told him I would do it 24 hours later, and then Netflix is like, 'We have a comedy on our hands.'"

The actor also stars alongside Jennifer Garner in Netflix's upcoming crypto comedy 'One Attempt Remaining,' directed by Kay Cannon, who previously worked with Cena on 'Blockers' in 2018. Cannon praised Cena's adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges, noting his ability to excel as a romantic lead.

Filmmaker Peter Farrelly, who directed Cena in 'Ricky Stanicky,' called him the most prepared actor he has ever worked with, stating, "On the first day, he knew the entire script from front to back, every line."

Cena drew parallels between a scene in 'Little Brother' involving his character's backside and a memorable beer bong scene from 'Blockers.' He explained that in 'Blockers,' he was willing to do the scene to protect his character's daughter. In 'Little Brother,' a similar act is performed by Michelle Monaghan's character, inspired by Eric André's character, as a callback that ultimately triggers Cena's character.

Regarding the evolution of his comedy career, Cena stated, "For any origin to my bravery, the credit has to be given to WWE." He elaborated on the demanding nature of the wrestling audience, emphasizing their honesty and the importance of authenticity.

For any origin to my bravery, the credit has to be given to WWE. The audience is vocal and honest and harsh. You understand that you aren’t cool for any long period of time. The biggest mistake you can make with that audience is by not being authentic, by not going for it, by trying to make safe choices. I took that lesson to every aspect I get to do to perform. It’s simply the wholehearted investment of the material and not doing gags for the sake of gags. You also have to trust the process and be willing to fail. It is not a conservative choice. Toward the end of my WWE career, I was heavily winking at the camera. Even then, it’s a stage of commitment and saying, “We’re all in this together, audience. You guys have gone on with my bel
