John Cena's in ring WWE career appeared to officially conclude in 2025 following a year long retirement tour. His final match of that year saw him lose to Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event. Despite his retirement from active competition, Cena has remained visible on WWE programming in 2026, notably hosting WrestleMania 42.
