For Hokit, the connection fans feel toward wrestling talent makes sense. When asked who his favorite WWE wrestler was during his time as a fan, the fighter pointed to masked performers and Sting.
Kane had the mask, right? I liked the guy with the mask for whatever reason. They were always like scary and, uh, Kane, Rey Mysterio. Um, Sting comes to mind for whatever reason.
Hokit said he still goes back and watches clips from older wrestling angles, and he credited the acting work of past WWE superstars for holding his attention.
Yeah, so now I go back and I watch the clips. I'm like, it is good acting, and it's like, I just… now I watch it just for the characters, and I'm like, 'oh, that's an interesting angle.' It's like Jake the Snake and like… Mr. Perfect, you know, just like Macho Man and all those old school just to see their angles, you know? I was like, 'ah, I see why people liked it.' You know, that, that steroid era. I'm like, 'ah, okay.'
Among the classic names he singled out for their angles were Jake the Snake Roberts, Mr. Perfect, and Macho Man, reflecting his interest in the older era of the product.
