Kay Lee Ray Names AEW Dream Opponents After WWE Exit

Kay Lee Ray clarified WWE chose not to renew her deal after her contract expired, and she named Mercedes Mone, Willow Nightingale, and Kris Statlander as dream opponents.

Kay Lee Ray is a free agent after WWE ended its relationship with the former Alba Fyre, and her latest comments point toward interest in facing AEW talent even though no All Elite signing has been announced.

Ray made a surprise return to the UK indies last week for Will Ospreay's Pro Wrestling EVE promotion. Earlier this week she noted that she was not part of WWE's most recent roster cuts because her contract expired, which kept her outside the 90 day no compete clause. That initial explanation did not spell out whether she chose not to renew or whether WWE passed on a new deal.

Speaking on Busted Open, Ray said WWE told her they were not interested in continuing the relationship, and she said that outcome was fine with her.

I had been thinking for a while if I wanted to re-sign or not. As I said before, I've been with WWE for a long time, so I at least wanted to give them the courtesy of having that conversation. And I knew my contract was up. And I think it was three weeks by the time I spoke to them, maybe four. And it was at Mania. So I was like, look, I know we're really, really busy right now. I'm not asking to have that conversation now, but can we have that possibly soon? And then unfortunately, I got the phone call the next week saying that they didn't want to be offering me anything. So on that, to me, I was like, cool, this was the decision I was already heading towards anyway, if that's the way we want to go, that's fine. So, yeah, it wasn't a surprise to me.

Later in the same interview, Ray named dream opponents she would love to face now that she is a free agent:

  • Mercedes Mone
  • Willow Nightingale
  • Kris Statlander

When Bully Ray noted that her list leaned heavily toward AEW stars, Ray laughed. That exchange could fuel fan speculation about a possible AEW move in 2026, though Ray has not confirmed any talks with the company.
