Warren Woman Named Top Finalist for WWE Fan of the Year

Raina Tanner of Warren, Ohio has been recognized as one of three finalists for the WWE Fan of the Year Presented by The General award.

Tanner's journey to becoming a finalist is marked by personal resilience. She was diagnosed with cancer but chose to keep it private, viewing vulnerability as a weakness. However, after her hero, Roman Reigns, publicly shared his own leukemia diagnosis, Tanner felt inspired to share her story.

“I’ll be watching wrestling when I’m 80,” Tanner stated, noting that the family tradition has continued as she watches it with her husband and daughter.

In addition to her passion for wrestling, Tanner runs a nonprofit dance studio, True Diversity Dance Team, in Warren. The studio aims to provide opportunities in the arts for girls who may not otherwise have access.

That's the mentality she now brings to every girl who walks through her studio doors: that showing up, being seen, and refusing to quit is what makes a champion.

Tanner's personal connection to wrestling is deep-seated. She stated that she was “born to love wrestling,” with watching the sport being a consistent part of her family's routine while growing up. This passion continues today, a family tradition shared with her husband and daughter.

Kale Sligh, associate vice president of marketing at The General Insurance, commented on the significance of the submissions. “WWE has one of the most passionate fan communities in the world, and reviewing the Fan of the Year submissions only reinforced that,” Sligh stated. “It was incredibly meaningful to hear the personal stories because so many fans' connections to WWE and see the role it has played in their lives. Narrowing the field to just three finalists was no easy task, and we're excited to invite the WWE Universe to help choose a winner and celebrate the fans who make this community so special.”

This year's contest marks the first time a general insurance company has officially sponsored WWE, with the competition launching around WrestleMania 42.
