The original pitches reportedly involved Danhausen and Brunson, but those ideas were put aside after it was revealed that surgery would prevent any physical involvement. Despite the shelved creative, WWE remains hopeful that Brunson will still attend the show and make an on-screen appearance.
Brunson underwent surgery earlier this week and is expected to be able to resume basketball activities later this summer, aiming to return for the 2026-27 NBA season. He is among several members of the NBA champion New York Knicks anticipated to attend the event.
Knicks-Danhausen Documentary and Merch Launched
Following the Knicks' NBA championship win last month, WWE cameras were present at the team’s championship parade. Footage from this event could potentially be utilized for a Knicks-Danhausen documentary. WWE has already launched championship merchandise for the pairing on WWEShop. Danhausen is also scheduled to appear on ESPN on either Sunday or Monday at the earliest.
