SummerSlam will build on the changes implemented last year, which saw the event expand to two days. A new tradition was also introduced where world champions defend their titles against the winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments. This year, Oba Femi and Iyo Sky emerged victorious in their respective tournaments, securing pivotal matches at SummerSlam.

Following SummerSlam, WWE will travel to New Orleans for the Money in the Bank event one month later. This event has grown to become a significant fixture in WWE's calendar, largely due to its signature multi-person ladder matches. The male and female winners of the Money in the Bank ladder matches earn championship opportunities at a time and place of their choosing, a lucrative advantage that has historically led to an 82% success rate for briefcase holders.

The source material also makes mention of other WWE-related topics from this year, including the WWE King and Queen of the Ring tournament brackets and results, John Cena's response to criticism regarding the John Cena Classic, Ronda Rousey revealing details about her WWE journey, new champions crowned at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, and The Rock opening up about his experiences with depression.
