The altercation took place after Sami Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER in a triple threat match to capture the WWE Championship. Cody Rhodes took the pin in the match. Following the loss, GUNTHER reportedly took his frustrations out on Aldis, leading to a heated exchange that escalated into a physical confrontation. The situation required officials to intervene and separate the two.

Official Statement and Fallout

An official statement from WWE Headquarters was read on Monday Night Raw by Michael Cole, detailing the consequences of the incident.

“We have an update on this situation. This is an official statement from WWE Headquarters: General Manager Nick Aldis of SmackDown and GUNTHER have been sent home because of this situation. Also, Nick Aldis has been placed on Administrative Leave pending further investigation.”

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce has been tasked with managing both the red and blue brands in the interim period, while the investigation into Aldis's role is pending.

The report also speculates on a potential return for Aldis as an active wrestler, noting his long-held desire to compete again in the ring, despite his satisfaction with his current on-screen role.
