The WWE World Cup XI
Forming the backbone of any successful football team is a reliable goalkeeper. Je'Von Evans is identified for this crucial role due to his exceptional athleticism and energetic, high-flying in-ring style. As one of the bounciest and most athletically gifted wrestlers on the current WWE roster, Evans could jump and react to shots from any angle. Described as a bit of a loose cannon at times, his unpredictability could translate into game-saving, daring maneuvers on the pitch.
On the defensive flank, Drew McIntyre is a strong candidate for the right-back position. Though slightly taller than most right backs, his perfect mix of speed, strength, impactfulness, and intelligence makes him a formidable presence. This placement would allow him to contribute effectively in both defensive duties and forward runs, making him a tough opponent for any attacker. Imagine him flying in for a slide tackle with a 'Claymore Kick' energy!
Sheamus is a must-pick for a center back role. Center backs often need to be unafraid to get hurt and carry plenty of strength, much like figures such as Pepe, Ramos, and Rudiger. Sheamus would throw his body at everything, making him an imposing figure for any opposing attacker.
Forming a central defense partnership is critical, and Sheamus' friend and ally Rusev would be a tremendous pick to stand by his side, given their understanding and chemistry. Rusev is described as a wide brick wall of a human being, making him very hard to get past.
Generally, effective modern-day left backs are gritty, fast, and sometimes the smallest member of the team. Finn Balor would certainly work well in this position. He possesses a technical flair, a hard-hitting style, and much of his WWE offense involves educated footwork. Triple H has also been in creative control over WWE for four years.
In the Defensive Midfielder (CDM) role, a player needs to be strong, intelligent, and willing to get physical. These traits perfectly describe WWE’s “Ring General” Gunther. It is hard to imagine someone getting past one of WWE’s most destructive forces; if they did, he would likely chop the soul out of them anyway. Sorry Messi, your career is next on the list for WWE’s career killer.
In the center of midfield, a captain who can organize the troops and lead the team forward is essential, and Roman Reigns steps into that role. Reigns brings the best combination of psychology, strength, and explosiveness. His history of controlling The Bloodline proves him to be the right guy to dictate the play and bring every member of the team into a World Cup match.
For the Attacking Midfielder (CAM) position, if one considers who has the most overall talent between the ropes in WWE, Chad Gable comes to mind. Despite being on the smaller side, the CAM position is perfectly suited for someone of Gable’s stature. It is easy to imagine him delivering five to ten assists during a World Cup competition, weaving in and out of defenders, and perhaps dishing out a suplex or two behind the referee’s back.
Sami Zayn mixes together technique, speed, experience, and intelligence inside the WWE ring, all qualities that would make up a good attacker. Zayn is someone who isn’t afraid to share and give up the spotlight, assisting other bigger stars, ensuring him to be a strong playmaker and goal setter-up. Zayn’s underdog persona would also be pivotal in the latter stages of a World Cup tournament, showcasing grit and resilience.
All it takes is one look at Bron Breakker running down WWE’s entrance ramp to hit a thunderous spear on an unlucky opponent to imagine him blitzing past defenders on the wing with a ball at his feet. Breakker isn’t necessarily pretty in what he does, but having one of your wingers be an electric, fast-paced powerhouse offers balance and unpredictability to a front line.
For generations, WWE has showcased all sorts of iconic figures.
