John Cena has shared his perspective on the unexpected parallels he's found between his careers in WWE and acting. Speaking at the SpaceCon San Antonio 2026 convention, the 17-time world champion reflected on a realization he had regarding the two professions.
Cena explained that while he initially believed the experiences to be different, he now sees them as remarkably similar. "I used to think different, right? I used to think, like, I'm alone in the ring, and I love being there, and then I started having a different perspective on acting, and I was like, 'Ah, but it's so different 'cause there's no big crowd, there's no instant feedback.' It is the same," Cena stated.
He elaborated on this, explaining that both fields require investing in a persona. "You get to assume the role of a personality, and the more you are invested in that personality, the more people will go along with that ride for you." Cena pointed to his dedication to the character of Peacemaker as an example, noting that the commitment required is akin to what is necessary for success in WWE. "If I go out there and I play Superstar, you guys know I'm lying like that," he said, emphasizing the importance of authenticity, even within a character.
