The Bloodline continues to be a leading segment on weekly WWE shows, and Vince McMahon’s private life is reportedly back in the news. This current focus on The Bloodline, even with Roman Reigns committed to a full-time schedule, reportedly feels reminiscent of the summer of 2023. Last week’s “Raw” featured more Bloodline segments than actual wrestling matches, with the storyline extending to “SmackDown” as The Usos confronted Solo Sikoa. This indicates WWE is planning to place The Bloodline front and center as SummerSlam nears in August.
The Bloodline storyline is recognized for its significant impact, having produced three superb WrestleMania main events (Mania 39 and two at Mania XL), marked The Rock's return to WWE after a decade, and contributed to a $5 billion Netflix deal. It is described by some as potentially the single most successful angle of the modern era.
However, concerns exist regarding the storyline's perceived repetition. Its original arc previously concluded with Roman Reigns dropping the belt at ‘Mania XL and losing his empire, just as Cody Rhodes predicted. This then led to a Bloodline civil war. Some had expected The Usos to show up at this year's WrestleMania.
In the weeks following this year's WrestleMania, the situation regarding The Bloodline changed. A family feud involving Jacob Fatu occurred, which culminated in “The Samoan Werewolf” having to join the flock. Current segments reportedly revolve around the objective of reintegrating Solo Sikoa into The Bloodline. Solo Sikoa was defeated by Roman Reigns less than two years ago and has spent most of his time since then feuding with a failed horror faction over a haunted lantern.
The repetition extends to recent segments on Raw, which concerned the question of whether The Usos would align behind their Tribal Chief. This storyline has been previously executed. The Jacob Fatu angle also reportedly feels close to what was previously done with Solo Sikoa as an unpredictable enforcer, despite Fatu enhancing The Bloodline project with his snarling charisma. Jey Uso, for instance, previously developed a backbone and pursued self-reliance.
Still, there are reportedly some grounds for optimism. During a staredown on a recent “Raw” in London, Oba Femi told Jey Uso:
“At the end of the day, you are not the family member I am really worried about.”
This interaction suggests a potential future matchup between Roman Reigns and Oba Femi. The idea of Oba Femi as a solo warrior challenging The Bloodline, with the prospect of a world title change at a future WrestleMania is considered by some to be a novel element the storyline could benefit from.
